The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 爆米花爱情故事。周末吃完午饭看个温暖的小片子还是挺好的。
电影的部分再做的怎么好，看不到载歌载舞背后的情感支持，也对我无效
罗密欧与朱丽叶的故事恐怕真的过时了，一见钟情和族群背叛都像是熊孩子恋爱脑，很难动人，而且男主角肉眼可见的不行。就全当来欣赏新晋最佳女配了吧。
对男女主角的讨厌让我忘记了这个电影的其他一切。

东尼和玛利亚的人物关系变化是说不通的，这也太戏剧了，是因为原作是舞台剧的缘故吗……除此之外，可能我个人对歌舞片没什么鉴赏能力，总是出戏……
改编本身还是很有想法的，画面啥的也很好看，但不知道为啥这样看这个故事就不好看了（）有点无聊就是说。而且字幕没有西班牙语的，啊累。男主确实不行，唱演都（）女主也太传统音乐剧女主了，感觉可以马上珂赛特（）

波多黎各版罗密欧与朱丽叶 宁可看印巴宝莱坞翻拍一版
歌舞片绝对是直男劝退指南，看了一个小时，简直如坐针毡，实在想不通翻拍的意义何在。这也是今年奥斯卡最佳影片十强中唯一一部没有看完的。能用拳头解决的矛盾冲突，动不动就开始唱歌跳舞，gay爆了！这年头为什么还有人喜欢音乐剧？Theater都没落N年了！究其原因，从事舞台剧的男生基本都是gay，所谓逼格就是把自己逼进一个角落作死
有几处剧情太硬伤，特别是爱情部分，让人很难代入，女主哥哥被杀后居然马上跟杀哥仇人滚床单，完全没有伤心的意思，太不科学。但是歌舞都很喜欢，场面也很精美复古，两个半小时完全没有觉得无聊，果然只有斯皮尔伯格可以做到～
干嘛要用这种方式去翻拍一部60年前的经典电影？
如果你不知道奥斯卡最佳影片长什么样，它就长这样。那运镜，那色调，那配乐，那灯光，斯皮尔伯格的电影就是好莱坞的代名词。如果你开始爱电影，又不知道从何看起，斯皮尔伯格的影片是入门影迷的首选。这部翻拍作品还是较原作逊色不少，街区的还原还是有着现代的痕迹，演员的眼中多少透着手机屏幕的“反光”。
喧宾夺主，路人自嗨，就这还提名了奥斯卡，哎。
好了全看完了，后面甚至都没啥歌舞了
有几场戏的调度还挺喜欢的，但除此之外觉得是个很普通的电影，看不太懂斯皮尔伯格
翻拍然后做旧算什么本事，有这个budget不如给LMM拍点跟得上时代的新作品
Jian Yang都能和Nina组CP了……我就不明白为什么2021年了，网恋奔现前就不能先视个频吗？
连字幕都不加了，却还要他得到集体的认同？故事太老了。
