The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 好喜欢这类家庭题材，林嘉欣演技很好，剧情选择的内容很棒，即能表现各人物当时所处角度的想法，又能体现在家庭粘聚力下各种关系的感觉…
这才应该得金马最佳剧情片和最佳女主角吧！数度眼眶泛泪！
有中美文化的冲突，有中年男女的困境，有青春期的叛逆，更有疫情中的骨肉亲情。
对东方情感的粗暴理解让人看得十分压抑，为了矛盾而矛盾，为了和解儿和解，对于人在困顿中的自我挣扎和寻求自洽的本能没有深入的体察和温情的观照。感到全程笼罩在创作者青春期式的任性抱怨中难得解脱。
莉莉跟小女儿烧纸钱那场戏特别喜欢。明明小女儿说今后不烧纸钱外公外婆很可怜，莉莉想到的是将来的自己，一种未来的侥幸。
只有事件的、轮廓的东西？好像不断在发动情绪，可是背后的机制没讲好？

相比于瀑布，都是细腻的台影风格，又差了一点意思。
情绪的爆发和关系的转变都好生硬，尤其没懂女儿怎么从逃避到接受。

竟然是处女作，导演太成熟，敏感又脆弱尖锐又无力。挑不出什么毛病的片子，非常喜欢一些细节满满又情节缺失的处理。想拨乱反正，这才应该是最佳影片，林嘉欣也不知道比贾静雯强了几条街。

No.7 除了稍微用力刻意了一点外，都很好了，特别是小孩子的英文，最后的反高潮处理也很高级，林嘉欣是真漂亮。
虽然讲的家庭，其实更多的是触动了一部分人的怀旧吧，2003年当时台湾怎么有还不如我在武汉的感觉。
