The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 其实一直很难喜欢上这种慢节奏的拍摄方式和大量的沉默。也许是还太年轻的原因，又或许是因为被压抑的太久，总觉得轰轰烈烈的、疯狂至极的才是自己最向往的生活。
Antonio真的很hot，但还是无法接受这种剧情设定，故事结束在水坝的时候也许会好很多，最后强行把一个lost的直男掰弯反而让人物脱离了现实，这个世界其实也没有很多深柜。
小狮子和小狼幼崽时期超可爱……萌得我可以再看一遍……
负担和循规蹈矩之下的中年人的原则和“底线”（私以为趁着现在一定要多培养些可以持久的兴趣爱好不然人到中年真的可能会相信:世间美好的事情竟然会发生在我身上）

同片泛滥的时代，三分钟没有船戏已劝退99%的观众了……难得本片细腻柔软的讲述，两位男主表演上乘、诚意满满，給父亲打电话想诉说的那段尤其到位、令人共情，很好很好的电影…4星
从出字幕分开，一下由家庭情节剧变为公路片，最后还是有回归家庭情节剧的趋向，主要是情感伏线不够深。配乐好听

我不知道为啥评分这么低，但是剧中的动物和人类之前的感情，动物之间的感情真的有打动到我，小狮子和小狼都好可爱，动物都是有灵性的，我还是很推荐~
为了完成指标的同志片。《哭泣游戏》已经上映三十年了，后辈却连个皮毛都学不到
把一个变装男同catfishing（基本上是）直男的故事讲得这么忧郁。为什么都觉得他是深柜双/同？他对这个网聊女人的渴望让他毅然出走、寻找，如果他找到的真的是个“女人”，哪儿还有什么queer？与其说是深柜中的觉醒，不如说是刺激下的放纵。这次之后他会主动找其他男的？没多大概率吧。

导演对爱情这件事倾注了过多的温柔，以致于忽略了现实的合理性。两人带着对方的爱意离开看似很美好，实际也是更大悲剧地开始。
好久都没能安静下来，看完一部慢节奏的电影，一开始跟着丹尼尔的视角去理解他的生活，然后跟着莎拉的视角去体会他所经历的一切，最后两者不停的交汇融合，最终爆发出对于「做自己」的渴望。最后车站告别想起了跳舞时候的bgm，真的控制不住了
“捍卫动物的自由”，说得容易，做到真难。很多地区，连人类自由都还没有呢。
头重脚轻：前半废笔冗余太多（相同内容堆了两个甚至三个无效镜头）后面的情感/对话部分反而没留够空间 当然和两人的表演痕迹也有一定关系 可惜了
