The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. 十分精致的实景舞台剧，对白，走位，布景都是舞台剧风格，只有更精美的构图属于导演，但是对于½的科恩，这点也完全不够啊
没啥必要，通篇的策略皆是惨白的邪气与呆板的装饰性，与极简的初衷背道而驰。

视觉美学其实没那么突出 因为那些长焦特写明显要你看的就是演员表演 可是！这是电影啊！表演再精彩也是要和镜头互动的……而且正方形构图本来就不太能体现电影美学。。。。

有着美丽配色的小甜水剧，单看截图的话也许比电影更吸引人

用有色人种演员和不从属于任何历史时代的布景与服装来表现故事的超现实性，又以极具象征性的光线运用突出画面中的人物，呓语般的自言自语是人物的行为如同梦靥，从美学的角度上讲，这部电影可谓极具观赏性。
将戏剧搬到银幕上，物理上收缩了时空，效果上将时空拉得更开。黑白剧照拍出来很好看，但是在一出悲剧中显得过于刻意，包括影片对于光线的运用。技术上很出色，但没能掩盖被弱化的内核。
