The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. 没有用华丽镜头展示自然奇观，而是将摄影机客观平静地对准自然物质，当探险队深入洞穴，便开启了万物之灵性。在洞内的摄影机设置令人想起《同志之谊》在矿井下的obstruction美学，在此，这种去除辞藻的限制性体现出超验感，与对物质的尊重。对历史的纪录式搬演，又隐藏起叙事，最终完成一首纯粹关于人与自然的赞美诗。
