The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 题材很吸引人，从音乐剧的角度来说既没有抓我耳朵的歌，剧情也缺乏节奏。虽然演员都很卖力，但是有限的人数加上很小的舞台感觉局限性还是很大。
“永葆热爱，永怀善良，永远温柔”仍然是我们面对残酷最好的武器。
So Canadian! 没能在多伦多看现场也要加入多伦多遗憾清单了。
密集的台词和唱段、动听的旋律、热闹的舞步、简洁炫目的舞美、缤纷的笑料和点到为止的感人瞬间，百老汇太强了。女机长的solo曲目Me and the Sky进入单曲循环。

看一半就来打满分了！在俄罗斯和乌克兰这个时刻，不小心选了这个片子，一切是天意。演员超棒，口音满分，结尾的照片也太赞了

异常中的日常，是覆盖生活的全方位关怀，那些集体记忆中珍贵的情感和善意，会跨越时间给受困的人类带来力量。没想到全剧只有十二个演员，场景转换，人物多样，内容多元，让人感动，催人振奋，是可以排进前三的音乐剧了。
飞机撞向大厦导致领空关闭，疫情蔓延全球所以剧院停业。偏远小镇的居民给予外来乘客最大的善意，911二十周年的官摄弥补天桥未能上演的遗憾。在这样的双重意义下，CFA所展现的美好品质更显得弥足珍贵。
用巨大的、超越种族的爱与温暖包裹住了悲伤，被命运安排的这5天必将永刻于心中。演员的发挥、舞台的调度与音乐的配合堪称完美。原来这就是百老汇啊！

这才是音乐剧，有好故事有好音乐有好表演，开大巴的那段动作非常逼真。
最喜欢“Me and the Sky”和“Stop the World”.图书馆的导赏妹子太不走心了。其实我个人最关注的问题是经历了本次事件的人事后的生活，电影只是折射了一点点他们的PTSD。感动之余，还是认识到这是一个很大的社会问题，严肃到仅仅展现对人性进行歌颂是不够的。我想任谁出生在那个岛上都不会对飞机上的乘客置身事外，但是任何一个飞机上的人生活都永远不会再回到之前的状态。那个遭受羞辱的中东人、分手的情侣、牺牲的消防员，人就是同时卑鄙、无奈和伟大。

看完甚至有点庆幸因为疫情取消巡演被退票了，剧不好看，更不好听，几个演员一人分饰多角，我真的会错乱。中间我一度迷失了，这还是音乐剧吗？音乐在哪里？剧情无聊，唱段很少且毫无亮点，就记住了一句 I am an islander，现在的新剧都是这种水准了吗
