The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. 这样一部电影，定位挺尴尬的其实。大的历史框架是不能动的，否则就变成架空历史了；虚构的人物只能在既定的框架里作有限的游走，创作空间相当狭窄，而观众对于最后的结局早就了然于胸；对历史人物的描写也处于暧昧地带，介于写实和虚构之间。那这样一来，作者对历史人物（比如张伯伦）的重新评价，其说服力就会大打折扣了。
真看不懂导演想表达什么？也不愿意浪费脑细胞去猜测！电影中的元素太多了，感觉就是导演的思维垃圾桶，把平时的灵光一现都扔进来了，然后电影的形式发表出来。全程快进看完！

杂乱昏暗的世界背景下充斥着各类畸形怪物，在大量定格模型的镜头下显得真实可怖，以一种先遣队探险式的路线走进下层布满惊恐无序压抑的环境中，看出了压榨掠夺和战争的反讽元素，但导演最终的核心没有能把握到。

暗黑怪诞，令人不适，似乎又充满隐喻，充满了现在电影作品里少有的想象力和独创性。得以窥探到菲尔·蒂佩特的脑内世界，他是一位怀有双向情感障碍，沉浸在自我世界的定格动画天才。
人类建立巴别塔，神对人类的冒犯降下惩罚，世界的纷争因此开始，我很难说明影片到底是想表达神明的腐朽邪恶给人类带来无尽折磨与恐惧，还是想表达人类的自作自受让自己陷入无尽战火与奴役之中。
