The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 因为是郑雷的抖音粉丝，所以知道了并且看了这部电影，对于中国科幻片来说果然土猛土猛的，小成本拍出了好莱坞般的悬疑烧脑的套路，值得点个大大的赞。好莱坞已经买下翻拍版权，更加牛掰。

庄生梦蝶……风景太赞了！东北经济振兴难……心里的刺拔不掉，随时流血一辈子……《彗星来的那一夜》、《闪灵》、《恐怖游轮》既视感……狼搭肩膀，暗示想象中，儿子车祸死亡是女主开车时被儿子搭肩膀，没来得及应付爆胎？女人想的多……背景模糊就切换空间！博士这么木呆呆，有些刻板印象，应该是女主调侃本科丈夫时幻想的形象……儿子死了，其实是女主的倔强执念，卖会所也是，直面现实、忏悔代表逐渐敞开心扉，走向“圆满”位面，暗示现实放下一切，没遗憾了，离死不远……六零三号房间七号床是女主临死的现实。惊悚恐怖气氛拍得不错嘛！
不知道被治愈还是被致郁了，自由的滑板和奔跑，却对应着跳海以及一口吞掉的所有情绪药。有几处对白，分不清东出昌大是在演出角色还是他自己。日影真的举重若轻。

两星半吧，剧本有点糙，主角的心理变化走向本应是决定整部电影的主题的，差那么一口气没拔起来。设定被玩烂了没玩出新花样，整体平平无奇，有彗星在前，又不如彗星的节奏和紧张感。人性在这种情境下居然还这么善良（冷静）？听到儿子还活着的时候，立刻开枪杀了她不是更符合那种经历诡异事件后心理变化吗？
女主一脸懵逼就能编剧附体直接剧透提出平行空间，瞬间就让后面内容变得无趣了。
一直跑下去吧。彰与和雄形成镜像，或许人的死是不需要理由的。东出昌大真迷人啊…
虽然故事最后结束的莫名其妙，就这样当作家了？但还挺温馨的。喜欢这个调调，全是书的酒吧，蓝色的跑车，那个年代的歌曲，弑父才能长大，很可爱的小孩，棒棒的舅舅。

人生是一场恒久的长跑，在逃离和生活中做拉扯，生命中有些时候有些事就那么发生了，没有理由，重新构筑了自我和潜意识中的本我，影片的最后东出望向明晃晃的天空，那一刻他是释然的，顺从了这个世界万物熵增的本质，也让我对东出昌大的演技有了新的认识，这都没提名45届日奥最佳男主？艺术如果怯于舆论的谴责，那么它将与艺术越来越远
彗星来的那一夜+时空罪恶的国产化，中规中矩，没有意外的突破。在平行空间中与自己斗，做最有利于自己的选择。故事很好，可惜演员演技完全带不动剧情，像一个不成熟的作品
