The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 实在是太有意思了，又好笑又感动，如果能活成倪虹洁那么畅快精彩就好了。吃饭时三个牙尖女人在一起也挺有意思，各自都很尖酸但是最后却很和谐。所以牙尖只能跟牙尖一起玩，换了我我就受不了。

把爱情里的矫揉造作、瞻前顾后、欲拒还迎、点到为止都讲了个遍，腔调拿捏的恰到好处，既世俗又灵气，最好的是跳出爱情电影悲喜的窠臼，看是讲爱情，其实都是生活，没有实话，不如吃吃点心。剧里的每个演员都爱，真好，有这样的剧给他们发挥
片中这种生活状态的上海人当然是存在的，这些人和大部分住在宝山、彭浦的上海话使用人口之间的差异度，自然远大于他们和租住在隔壁，听不懂上海话，不吃香油鳝糊但热衷轻食法餐之间文艺女青年之间的差异度，本片的导演自然属于后者，构建出来的上海，也只存在于华山路-延安路包裹着的摩纳哥大小区域。当然，在泥沙俱下的今日，能够用上海话作为影片对白本身，已经能够让交关上海中老年人惊讶和感动，以至于对自家生活与片中人物之间的鸿沟，也轻描淡写的视若无睹了
观看的时候，笑的神经的确有被调动，也呈现了近几年华语电影里松弛有加的人物形象，已算是相当奢侈的创作。但这种趣味性和地域的关系有多大，是存疑的。就像国际学校、混血儿、懂得Jimmy Choo的小皮匠……这些符号在多大程度上构成上海的特质，也是需要被讨论的。法租界成为一个容器，承载人们对城市的想象，在电影框架内构成一个过于简化却行之有效的逻辑。
9/10。一群嘴上说着不相信爱情神话，内心却渴望爱情神话的人，其实并不是不相信，只是不相信会在自己身上降临而已。何不自己创造呢。有一说一，配乐真的一级棒！
明白导演想举重若轻，却没感受到那份举重若轻，总感觉劲没到位。

灵啊灵啊！太好看了，和上海的城市气质浑然天成，是想要打飞的去魔都的电影院再去看一次的程度。“女人没有甩过一百个男人的人生是不完整的”，“我现在是最好的状态：有钱有闲，老公失踪”，“我只不过犯了所有男人都会犯的错误”，爽死谁了？爽死我了。爱情神话在捕风捉影间，生活的笑泪在最心酸的深处。有被击中，为那份真诚可贵的认同和理解。btw，原来上海小资文青聚众看费里尼也是会打瞌睡的，我不必为自己羞愧。
由于平原上的火焰撤档，所以才临时看这个，但是真的超出预期了，年近五十的人也可以好浪漫啊
一个精神上海人拍了一群说着上海话的精神欧洲人的电影
分寸感太好了。故事有一点刻薄和揶揄，但也有爱意。人物有一点平凡和俗气，但也有一点浪漫。
可爱，有爱的电影，特别适合我这种跟片子几个主角一样，大龄、离异且正在努力恋爱、偶尔帮着别人看孩子的中年观众[捂脸][捂脸][捂脸]
精致漂亮思想开放的上海女人，也终究逃不开被中年发福的油腻文艺男吸引。然而现实里文艺男或文化男的脑子里是没有爱情的，他可以和你从诗词歌赋谈到人生哲学，然后提出要看你的B
看了预告，特意去刷了沪语对白的《爱情神话》，浓浓的烟火气，台词没有一句废话，很多小惊喜让人捧腹，“上海含屋”还是很有感染力的。推荐！希望能多拍这种使用本地方言对白，平平淡淡却又让人笑中带泪的好片子！如果说还什么可以更好的话，于我而言，画面应该要有一只上海腔调的猫。
第一印象是上海话的伍迪艾伦，但再一想想，内核其实是萨姆门德斯。
