The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 影片由桑杰执导，影片前半段故事情节比较猎奇，值得一看，孟买60年代产业的光怪陆离再加上女主角遇神杀神的性格，使故事曲折离奇，颇具传奇色彩，节奏还算比较明快，具有一定的娱乐性，但是到了影片后半段，《甘古拜·卡蒂娅瓦迪》作为一部真实改编的题材，大量删改内容，导致剧情欠佳，毫无说服力，影片最后振奋人心的演讲对白略显生硬，没有达到预期的效果，与《革命双雄》相差甚远。值得幸运的是，女主角霸气外露的性格令这部影片生动了不少，情感拿捏到位，使这部苍白的影片还不至于达到疲乏的效果。

电影里花了太多时间去唱歌跳舞，该政治斗争的时候还在谈情说爱，减弱了这部电影的内涵深度。
这个主题和取向还是挺正的 #WomenEmpowerment
带给我的爽感是不彻底的，一方面总是会闪现她为什么会落得如此境地如果她当初没被卖到妓院是怎样的，另一方面她的成长过程确实很爽，不想讨论她借人之力，她身上那种劲儿值得赞扬。但一想到现实就有种被打脸的感觉。

真实的故事一定更曲折。电影还是美化了很多细节。尤其是大事件转折点，电影表现得太过于顺遂了。
最被打動的一幕，女主坐在車裡，拿著小男朋友的手摸自己的頭，摸著摸著就哭了，多久沒被好好疼惜。

3.5。答应我，少唱几段少跳几次，把时间缩到120分钟以内好吗？？感觉印度的画面艺术有进步啊，有几个画面感觉真的挺美。故事就是一个努力活的更好的女人的故事。倒也算不上多女权，但的确是对女性的一种鼓舞和正视。咱偷着乐国有吗？
很强大，其实一直就很奇怪，这就是一个职业，能帮忙解决人的生理需求。怎么到现在还会被禁了，那么多人结不了婚，找不到老婆，他们怎么发泄生理需要?靠娃娃，飞机杯，还是犯罪激增?肯定会出现问题啊。女主很强大，气场，学时，话术，自信。知道自己想要什么，为之而努力，你们凭什么歧视继女?靠你们下半身思考的脑袋? 好电影值得推广
完成的中规中矩吧，有点拖沓(毕竟总要穿插点歌舞不然就不叫印度片了)女主也太能撩了，黑帮老大简直是工具人。在后半段看到了《永结同心》里的日本女医生？？
抓住了每一个可以抓住的机会，利用了每一个可以利用的人……接受现状并且在这样的环境里跳出枷锁活得更好，live with dignity not fear，非常佩服。女主真美！而且很像关晓彤（比关有风情）……歌舞部分完全跳过了（。看到大哥的权势我已经在想「我要怎么成为这样的人」而不是「我要和他结婚」了，为我自己的进步干杯！趁机了解了一下印地语里各种称呼后缀的来源，比如甘谷拜=甘谷+bai，bai是兄弟的意思；第一次见记者，记者叫她ji，这就是尊称，同时ji也是“是”的意思……
说服大哥就是这么容易……说服警察就是这么容易……说服总理就是这么容易……
头一次觉得宝莱坞的歌舞这么好看，每一段都很贴
